Hi! I'm Marisa!

Hello everyone! I am super excited to be part of the MOD SQUAD!! I am looking forward to working with all of the very talented and creative ladies on the team.

I am originally from the island of Guam. I currently live in Viva Las Vegas!! I am a mom to 3 amazing and very active kids! I have a 10 yr. old daughter and 8 yr. old twin sons. I am married to an awesome man who is not only my best friend but is very supportive of all of my crafty endeavors!

Crafting has been a part of my life ever since I was young. I started scrapbooking about 10 years ago after the birth of my daughter. Since then, I have continued to scrapbook and my style has evolved over the years! I am very experimental and I love trying new techniques and supplies. I am inspired by all things crafty! One supply that I cannot live without is FLOWERS!! I love love love flowers! Along with scrapbooking, I also like to stamp, create cards and papercrafts. When it's time to relax....I head over to my desk and start creating!

The project that I have for you today is a tri-shutter card. I have seen this card on many different blogs and I finally had the chance to try it. As you can see I used floral patterned paper! One thing that you will notice about my work is that I cut out everything! I love to cut out the elements from a piece of patterned paper! Inking is another one of my favorite techniques! I am waiting for my box of MOSD goodies......once it arrives.....it is time to play! I look forward to creating with these awesome products!

Thanks for stopping by and I will see ya next month!! :) Have a great day!

Debbie's back!

I'm so excited to return for another term on the Mod Squad. After taking a hiatus to deal with some personal stuff, I'm back! My mojo's been working and I can't wait to start working with all the new product heading my way.

A little bit about me... I'm married to a very handsome, very supportive man. He turns a blind eye to my creative messes and keeps me company while I scrap. We have five amazing, energetic kids - Colin 12, Brenna 10, Ryan 8, Jimmy 6, and Tommy 4. We also have a big Chesapeake Bay Retreiver named Harley. I work full time as a RN on a maternity ward / newborn nursery at a busy city hospital. I teach classes at my LSS as well. Yes, I'm one busy woman, but scrapping is how I relax and recharge myself.

I enjoy playing with a variety of techniques and have found that MOSD products afford me the opportunity to experiment - from Stick Ons to acrylic, you're only limited by your imagination!

Here are some samples of my favorite MOSD projects...

Happy Scrapping!

Vicki here!

First - I just want to tell you how excited to be a part of the MOD SQUAD! I have always LOVED their products and there's no place locally that sells them so I have purchased some products on line and have drooled (yes I said drooled) over my friend Gloria's MOSD projects (you've probably already met her - she's been here a while) and now I get to play with these YUMMY products myself!!

I will show you an album I did using the MOSD Big Boy album. It had originally been my application for a guest spot here about 6-8 months ago.

So a little more about me - I am 38, I work full time doing New Product Development - married with three wonderful children and I obviously LOVE LOVE LOVE to scrapbook! I make scrapbooks, cards and altered item and have recently found myself on the DARK SIDE....digital scrapbooking! (That's what Ms. Gloria called it anyway) I just LOVE IT ALL!

So I hope you are looking forward to more creations from me! I am going to love making them to show to you!

~Vicki

Adding Some Sparkle To Your Albums

I was so excited to be asked to join the Midnight Oil Scrapbook Designs team! I can't wait to get to play with these products and next month I will show you what I've been up to. A little about me.... I have been married for 14 years and have two children Parker 8 and Emma 6. As they get older I seem to spend more and more of my time in my "sweet" minivan running them to various activities. My daughter has inherited my creative bug and I couldn't be more excited. I have been scrapbooking for a few years and it all started when I mentioned to my husband I wanted to try scrapbooking - so he bought me an album and a pack of 12x12 paper for my birthday. Well a few years and an embarassing amount of supplies later, I think he's regretting that original gift! Speaking of birthdays today is my birthday! I'm guessing he won't be getting something scrappy this year...lol... We added onto our house recently and I even got a bigger scrap room out of the deal. Now I just need to get the thing organized. I love products, I just don't seem to be very good at putting them away. I love to create all kinds of projects and have been published in magazines such as Paper Crafts, CARDS, Scrapbook Trends, Memory Makers and others.

I thought today I'd share an acrylic album I created last month. I have become a big fan of glitter and I wanted to add some to this project. I took my glue pad and ran it over the acrylic piece of petal on each page and covered with fine glitter. I only covered one side of the petal as the glitter still shows through to the other side. I also like to use Modge Podge to apply glitter, but on the acrylic I thought the glue pad helped to apply the glitter more evenly. I also added touches of glitter to the papers and chipboard by using a glue pen. I love glitter - it just keeps your face sparkly for days!

Drum Roll Please....

We are thrilled, we are excited, we are beside ourselves....WE HAVE A NEW DESIGN TEAM!

First I must say, this was by far, the most difficult decision we have had to make in a very long time. We had over 50 very talented applicants apply for 14 positions on our MOD Squad. Which means we had to disappoint a lot of very talented crafters. This is never an easy task and certainly one we don't enjoy. But the good news is we were also able to spread joy and happiness to 14 incredible ladies (not leaving the guys out here - we only had female applicants...). We also have two members returning from the original team, to make it a 16 member team.

So without further ado, we would like to introduce the new MOD Squad (aka: the Midnight Oil Design Squad). You can find links to their blogs along the left hand side...

These wonderful ladies will begin introducing themselves here in the following days. You can also find out more about them at their personal blogs. Then beginning August 1st each of these ladieswill begin posting projects, tips and techniques for your enjoyment right here at the MOSD blog!

Congratulations ladies and thanks in advance for all your hard work!

Happy 4th of July

Tomorrow is our Independence Day celebration here in the USA. Since most folks are away for the long weekend, I've decided to take the week off too! So this is a project I posted last year.

I used the MOSD Patriotic Stacker Collection for this page layout.

Since I live only 45 minutes from Disneyland, a wonderful place to spend any holiday, I thought I show another older layout I made. This time I used the Build-a-Book letters to make my page title.

I hope you enjoyed my summer "repeats." The new DT should be on board in the next few weeks. You will not have to be stuck with my ramblings every week once we add some folks to the blog roll!
